Some Pages From Sketchbooks

Pencil on paper  |  Multiple sketchbooks, places, and times

I don’t carry a sketchbook everywhere. I don’t choose grand subjects. I draw when I feel I want to, and then, for my subjects, I usually choose what’s in front of me — whatever catches my eye. These sketches come from different countries, cities, years, and notebooks. But they share the same impulse: the need to draw. Unexplained, humble, need. Drawing does something indescribable to me, and calms my nerves, and rebalances my system.

And, what’s quite funny, it makes me feel a bit like a printer — as if I print whatever gets to my eye, to paper, because it’s my essence to print it.
