I can't see you through all this detail

I can’t see you through all this detail — Mira Maria Belniak, self-portrait, watercolour and collage on paper, 2009.

I can’t see you through all this detail

I look. And anywhere I look, I see things made of things made of sense or nonsense and of thousands and thousands of interconnected pixels. Anywhere I look. Fascinating. Intriguing. Annoying. So normal. Weird. Everywhere. Pixels. Data. With colours and questions as base layers, creating bigger things, growing into them — growing  — sometimes so fast or weird that I cannot breathe, as they carry me there with them. And I never know to where.

Ears do similar tricks, but I am definitely “the eyes” person.

Textured. Life. Patterned. Behaviours. Lights.

And somewhere there, you are. And you are important to me. And you see me. And ask me where I am. I am ALL THERE. Believe me.

It’s just that — sometimes — I see so much that I can’t really see.
