Inkscript – Tattoo Knowledge & Publishing

Branding | Website | Graphics | Articles

Inkscript is a tattoo encyclopedia and publishing project I created, researched, wrote, illustrated, and built from scratch. It covers tattoo symbolism, styles and traditions, science, history, and the craft behind the work — long-form articles, each researched from published sources including academic papers, ethnographic fieldwork, and documented history. The site also hosts my published books, thematic flash albums, and tattoo design packs.

The project spans editorial writing, research, visual design, web development, and illustration. Every article, publication, and every design decision is mine. There is no advertising, no AI-generated content, and no recycled material. The goal is to be the most thorough, honest, and well-sourced tattoo reference available online — the kind of resource I wanted to find as an apprentice and reach for as a working artist.

Inkscript manifesto:

Most tattoo content online is the same handful of claims copied between websites, unsourced, unverified, and written to fill space around ads. It’s an annoying mess that makes it hard to reach valuable information.

I thought I could use my skills and notes to make something better, cleaner, more concrete — from general structure to the way each subject is presented. Inkscript prioritises high-quality information over SEO scores and clarity over clutter, thoroughly covering a wide range of aspects of tattooing.

    Editorial Approach

All articles are researched and written with attention to historical and cultural context. Topics range from the ancient symbols across cultures through the evolution of various tattooing styles and traditions to the technology and science behind the art of tattooing.

The goal was to create a clean, useful source of information for tattoo studios, individual artists, clients, tattoo enthusiasts, and anyone else interested in symbolism and tattooing.

    Ongoing Development

Inkscript.net is not a finished product. It is an evolving body of work. Articles continue to be added, refined, and expanded. Technical improvements are implemented as needed. The platform grows in depth rather than scale. It remains both a professional exercise in digital publishing and a personal labour of commitment — a structured, sustainable knowledge resource shaped by curiosity, long-term observation, and a desire to create a worthwhile, reliable source of information on tattooing symbolism, history, technology, and art.
