Alisa Makarenko
Art Direction | Branding | Website
Alisa Makarenko is a Ukrainian-born choreographer, dancer, and movement artist working across Poland’s major stages — the New Theatre in Poznań, the Wrocław Contemporary Theatre, and the Warsaw Chamber Opera among them. She also runs her own teaching method, mov_improv_ment, combining psychology, improvisation, and contemporary dance. Her passion and work span three distinct roles, and the website needed to hold all of them without collapsing them into one.
Alisa’s logotype was the biggest challenge. How can you contain such a rich and vibrant soul in one small sign? The final version shows her — Alisa — in her most characteristic and natural form: movement. She is all there, yet she has already managed to leave the small logo frame. A dancer’s move, a choreographer’s cut, clear as her teachings, and a mix of being gently light and unapologetically bold.
For Alisa’s website, we adopted the play with the form, the flirt of light and boldness, and the rule of three. Three colours carry the rest of the site: black, white, and a single red used only where it serves a purpose — a menu icon, a button, an accent line. The squares come mostly in triads (if they haven’t moved with Alisa). Above it all, the site is structured around the three roles: a performer, a choreographer, and a teacher. Each section carries its own archive and depth. The choreography pages document a number of creative productions in all the fields. The recordings and stage photographs throughout are documentary of her most original career steps — a selection of the most important productions, performances and moments.
The site was launched in 2018 and went through several updates, all within the same identity.
